Ooh, these are turning out neat! I dont know how familiar with the tarot you are, but if you want more resources to draw from you can look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rider-Waite_tarot_deckThe Rider-Waite deck is considered public domain, so they show every single card and you can borrow images or symbology to your heart's content. This icon is from the Cat People tarot, its from "The Lovers" card.
Basically I know enough about tarot to be dangerous with it. I used to know more but have forgotten a lot in the years that I have done nothing with it. The Cat People was my very first deck and still one of my favorites. I'm rather sad because it seems that somewhere during one of our last three moves I lost my deck of it.
This is kind of a different tangent - but what happened to stores selling skads of tarot decks? I remember when book stores used to have whole sections with oodles of decks. Now I'm lucky if I can find a handful of different decks. Hmmm...
I think my favorite deck after the Cat People one would be the Halloween one by Kipling West. I dunno, I was wondering the same thing too! There's an occult store in Houston that sells tons of them, other than that most bookstores quit. Maybe the religious right? I remember that at one point the section where they were was called 'occult' but now it's called 'new age'. Krypt works at a bookstore and there's a lot of theft of small items, that might be it too. Now the closest place to me is this: http://www.magickcauldron.com/And it's still 90 minutes away. Have you seen this site? It's nifty. http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/ | |
